Dear readers, following is a bit of news and announcements to keep you informed. Exciting projects abound!

Bear Wants More on Board!

Great news! Bear Wants More is now available in board book format. Many of you have emailed me asking for more Bear board books, so I’m very happy to announce this. Over the next few years even more bear titles will be made available on board.

New Board Book Title: Uh Oh, Calico!

My new Calico series is expanding with this adorable new title. Uh Oh, Calico! (illustrated by Buket Erdogan) is an adorable new story about this mischievous kitten. Oh dear, Calico is having a bumbling, accident-filled day (what toddler doesn’t?). Mama watches her kitten closely and after each mishap she helps clean up the mess (and the tears). A celebration of motherly love and forgiveness, this book told in rhythmic rhyme will help reassure toddlers that the occasional accident is no big deal.

New Spiritual Title Make a Joyful Noise (Celebrating Psalm 100:1)

I’m excited to announce a new title in my Celebrating scripture series, published by Zodnervan and illustrated by Amy June Bates.

In this charming and spirited retelling of Psalm 100:1, youngsters observe a child discovering the fun and sheer joy of praising God. From birds singing and the church bells ringing to the lively worship service itself—where folks sing, clap, and shout, Hallelujah!—all creation seems to be joining together to celebrate God’s goodness in this full-color picture book. Composed entirely in delightful add-on verse, each page builds on the one before, adding ding dongs to tweet-a-tweets and hums to taps to claps, until the entire congregation shouts, “Let’s make a joyful noise to the Lord!” Even the quiet prayer, we learn, is a joyful noise. Prereaders will love helping with sound effects while early readers will be amused by each deft rhyme in this satisfying and entertaining book for kids ages four to eight.

I’ve always enjoyed worshiping through music, and I love to sing. For me music is a natural way to express and celebrate faith, and I believe children are very open to hearing music in the world around them (they even find music in the kitchen pots). Enjoy!

Sneak Teases

I hate to be a tease, but…I have two very exciting projects coming out later this year. One is a new Bear book, and this time Bear Feels Scared (hint, hint). Also, illlustrator Jane Chapman (illustrator for all the Bear books) and I are pairing up for a brand new series. The main character is an adorable baby penguin named Pip (awww…). Full announcements will be included in my next newsletter. Also watch for art samples for both books on my blog.

Thank you all,
Karma Wilson
